MONDAYS
5PM: Slow Track Beginning Guitar #3 (level 1) New Class! For total beginners or those who know only a few chords who want an easy introduction to playing the guitar. We’ll learn over a dozen well-known songs with only 2 or 3 easy to play chords in them. We will focus on building a repertoire of easy rock, pop, country and folk songs and having fun. Looking for a faster paced beginning class? Check out "Fast Track Beginning Guitar" which will meet Mondays at 7PM. 6pm: Folk Standards #1 (level 1-2)
For those who know basic chords but are still slow changing from one chord to the next (especially the F chord). We’ll review the basic strums and chords, do lots of chord drills, learn new chords and new strums, learn bass runs, and 18 timeless folk, country, and rock songs. 7PM: Fast Track Beginning Guitar
(level 1) Learn all the basics in 8 weeks! This fast moving class will cover all 9 basic chords, several strum patterns, a scale in the key of G, how to use hammering-ons and bass runs, plus 15 great songs from country, rock and folk sources. (Note: This class was formerly known as Starting to Play.) Looking for a slower paced beginning class? Check out "Slow Track Beginning Guitar" which will meet Mondays at 5PM. |
TUESDAYS
5PM: Easy Beatles (level 2+) New Class! Songs will be mostly accompanied with a flatpick but we will also learn a few fingerstyle songs now and then. Learn easy to play Beatles songs in time for the Summer! We will start with learning how to use a flatpick. We will also learn new acoustic rock strums and chords (including a few barre chords). We'll add simple bass lines to some of the songs and have tons of fun! 6PM: Songwriter's Circle
(no guitar level) Open to songwriters of all levels including beginners. Our songwriting class is different every quarter in our constant search for the muse. Come to get started writing your own songs; come for ideas and guidance; come to share a song in progress or a finished song. Come just to have a great time! 7PM: Americana and It's Roots #23
(multi-level class: levels 3 and 4) This class will be popular, so it is offered at two different times and will be taught at two different levels to fit a wider range of playing ability. We will feature contemporary music that incorporates elements of American roots music styles plus the origins of American roots music. We’ll learn songs from artists like Lyle Lovett, the Wailin’ Jennys, Gillian Welch, John Hiatt, Alison Krauss, Tim O’Brien, Townes Van Zandt, Sarah Jarosz, Emmylou Harris, etc. We will also learn songs from some of the primary sources of American roots music. All guitar arrangements are written in tablature. |
